Clara Preethu’s Journey: From India to the UK

My journey in dentistry began in India, where I graduated in 2006 and worked for a year in a private practice. After moving to the UK in 2007 following my marriage, my focus shifted from my career to my family, as I became a mother to two children. Despite these changes, I never lost sight of my ultimate goal: to practise dentistry in the UK.
Preparation and Perseverance
Balancing family life with my career aspirations, I prepared for the Overseas Registration Exams (ORE), which included both theory and practical components. On top of looking after my family, I worked full-time due to my husband’s redundancy. The journey was financially and emotionally challenging, but I stayed determined. The COVID-19 pandemic brought additional obstacles, disrupting the exam timeline. However, I pushed through and passed both exams, finally achieving my goal.
Transition and Support
The support from Rodericks Dental Partners was crucial during my transition into practice. Their comprehensive onboarding process was well-organised and structured, ensuring that every aspect of my integration was smooth and manageable. They familiarised me with the practice environment and provided the necessary training and resources, ensuring I was well-prepared to start my career with them.
Mentorship and Professional Growth
I can't thank my mentors enough for their support. I feel truly blessed to be part of Rodericks Dental Partners, where I've received the dedicated attention and guidance I needed. With two mentors who are always encouraging and ready to help, I had a structured plan that eased me into practice seamlessly. They provided me with learning opportunities and to shadow them before seeing patients, which was extremely helpful in building my practical skills. Additionally, the support from my practice manager has been fantastic. Their combined efforts have been instrumental in helping me build my confidence, gain experience and achieve my professional goals. The mentorship and structured approach at Rodericks Dental Partners has definitely set a solid foundation for my career growth.
Achieving Professional Goals
Since joining Rodericks Dental Partners in December 2023, I have been learning at my own pace. I hope to specialise in Aesthetics and Invisalign treatments in the future. When I am ready to advance further, I know that Rodericks Dental Partners will provide me with the support, guidance and resources needed to excel in these areas.
Discovering Rodericks Dental Partners
I discovered Rodericks Dental Partners on Indeed and received positive feedback from other dentists I met during courses. Their good reputation and the positive experiences shared by my peers really convinced me to join the group, and I’m glad I did.
