Meet our Team at Oaklands Dental Surgery

Tom qualified from Newcastle University in 2004 and has been working at Oaklands Dentists in Preston ever since. He has always had a keen interest in postgraduate education and is continually looking to broaden his skill set. He gained his Diploma in Membership of the Faculty of General Dental Surgeons at the Royal College of Surgeons in 2007, he then proceeded to become an accredited Invisalign provider in 2008 and completed his Diploma in Conscious Sedation in 2009. Tom completed a Masters Degree in Clinical Periodontology from the University of Central Lancashire in 2016.

Tom is currently Chairman of the Central Lancashire Local Dental Committee and sits on the Lancashire and South Cumbria Executive Committee. He is also an Honorary Clinical Tutor at the University of Liverpool.

In his spare time, Tom loves watching football (he is a Manchester United season ticket holder), playing tennis and spending time with friends.

Stella qualified from the University of Manchester with Honours, in 1988. After completing Vocational Training in the North West, Stella spent 14 years in General Dental Practice in Accrington, East Lancashire.

Stella joined team at Oaklands Dental Practice in 2003. Stella provides a wide range of general dental services for all ages, with an emphasis on quality care and prevention. Stella is experienced in treating anxious patients and also provides a range of cosmetic treatments.

In her personal life Stella’s hobbies include Scottish dancing, singing with a choir and walking.

Claire grew up and lives in Preston, she qualified as a dentist from The University of Manchester in 2005. After graduating she did her Vocational Training in Blackpool and stayed on as an associate dentist for a further 3 years. Claire then worked as an associate dentist at a practice in Preston for over 10 years and joined Oakland’s Dental Surgery in 2020.

Claire loves being a family general dental practitioner and finds it very rewarding. She enjoys all aspects of dentistry and caring for patients from all different walks of life. She particularly likes working with nervous patients and building up their confidence so that any necessary treatment can be completed.

Claire uses conservative methods to provide the most appropriate and advantageous dentistry for her patients, with lots of emphasis on education to enable her patients to look after their own teeth and gums in the best possible way. She always strives to keep up to date and to further her knowledge by frequently attending courses, lectures and seminars.

Outside of work, Claire loves to spend time with her family and friends.

Alex qualified from Cardiff University Dental School with honours in 2011. Upon graduating Alex worked as a senior house officer on the orthodontic, restorative and oral surgery clinics at the Heath Dental Hospital in Cardiff. He has also spent time working in both NHS and private practices in the South Wales and Bristol regions.

Alex has attended many hours of courses and training schemes over the years, and has developed a special interest in orthodontic and cosmetic dentistry. He was a winner at the Aesthetic Dentistry Awards 2017 in the Single Tooth Ceramic category and has gained further post-graduate qualifications by achieving the MFDS qualification from the Royal College of Surgeons, Glasgow. Alex is currently studying for a Master’s degree in Implant Dentistry at the University of Central Lancashire. Particularly skilled at treating anxious patients, he aims to continue providing a range of high quality dental treatments.

Outside of work Alex enjoys playing football, hiking and travelling.
