Dr Fickert was a prize student at university. He won 3 undergraduate prizes and passed his tertiary examinations, his bachelor's in dentistry in 1987, with distinction. Since then he has continually updated himself with further training and is now a registered Specialist in Orthodontics.

In the merchant navy Dr Fickert reached the rank of Commander.
He is a patron of the Birmingham Hippodrome and sponsors a local school’s football team. He supports his community by being a member of the local residents' association. Dr Fickert supports charity by performing parachute jumps for Mencap and running marathons for charity. In February 2013, he ran the Birmingham half-marathon for Acorns.

Kerry has worked exclusively alongside Dr Fickert in orthodontics since 1995. Her passion for orthodontics has led her to develop her skills and achieve qualifications in: Practice Management, Customer Services & Dental Radiography. Subsequently she undertook full-time training in Orthodontic Therapy at Manchester Dental School and was amongst the first in the UK to gain a Diploma in Orthodontic Therapy from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2009.

Since 2009, Kerry has worked with Dr Fickert in clinical orthodontics, carrying out bespoke orthodontic treatments. Her caring nature and passion for orthodontics help to put patients at ease and assist them in choosing the most appropriate treatment available. Her special area of interest is the use of aesthetic orthodontic systems such as Invisalign, which enables the wearer to achieve the smile they have always desired in a discreet and efficient way. Together they offer a full range of bespoke orthodontic treatments for 6- to 90-year-olds!

Hassan qualified from the University of Birmingham and is a long standing member of the Selly Oak dental team. He has a wealth of experience, expertise and passion for high quality dentistry. Above all, he is a very approachable and caring dentist whom over the years has had the privilege of meeting people from all walks of life, helping them to achieve long lasting healthy smiles.

Hassan has a particular interest in restoring missing teeth with dental implants. Hassan has undertaken further training in this field by undertaking a three year Master of Science degree in dental implantology from the University of Central Lancashire. Hassan uses the ‘Straumann’ dental implant, which is an internationally recognised dental implant manufacturer based in Switzerland and offers swiss quality and precision.

As well as dental implants, He is also able to cater for all your cosmetic dental needs including:

– Teeth straightening with the popular Invisalign system

– Professional teeth whitening

– Minimally invasive composite bonding procedures

He has furthered his expertise in cosmetic dentistry by completing a range of post-graduate certificate courses, including a two year programme in aesthetic and restorative dentistry in Birmingham (DHTI).

When he is not in dental practice, he is a clinical dental tutor at the University of Birmingham, where he is responsible for teaching the next generation of dentists the practical skills necessary for qualification.

To demonstrate his focus on continual professional development and acquisition of knowledge, Hassan has proudly achieved the Diploma of Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery from the Royal College of surgeons in Edinburgh.

She is often the person looking after you in reception and making sure that your experience with us is a positive one. Rachel has worked for Selly Oak for 11 years, as a key function of her role as head of house, Rachel ensures that both patients and staff are happy and the practice runs smoothly on a day to day basis.
